BOBBY HOLMES CAPTURES CASEY'S T.Q. MIDGET SERIES RALPH WISSING MEMORIAL EVENT AT HOLLAND
Holland, NY: The Casey's T.Q. Midget Series returned to the Holland NASCAR Motorsports Complex on Saturday, May 24 with a strong sixteen-car field with fourteen of them taking the green. Bobby Holmes started sixth in his Original Pizza Logs T.Q. Midget and worked his way through the field with patience. On lap nine of the twenty-lap feature Mike Blair’s car went up in flames from an oil leak. After the restart on lap eleven, Jim Fleischman’s car came unglued and he went up in flames; he quickly remove his safety equipment and escaped the burning car. Jim was done for the night.
With five laps to go, Bobby Holmes took the lead after a great battle up front with the top three cars for the last six laps of the race with second place Vinnie Christiano Jr. #2 and third place Cam Barber #01. The win gives Holmes his second feature victory in a row after winning Wyoming County International Speedway's opener on Sunday, May 11. Bobby was hoping for a second win in the NASCAR SST Pro Modified, but the team lost a cylinder in the heat race and did not run the feature.
