VP FUELS REGULAR SHOW ON TAP THIS FRIDAY AT SPENCER SPEEDWAY
WILLIAMSON, NY: VP Fuels will be hosting this Friday’s, May 23, NASCAR Three Star program at Spencer Speedway. Heading up the bill will be the Weekly Modifieds, formally known as the SST Modifieds. Joining them will be a complete program of NASCAR Street Stocks and Super Sixes in action.
With Buck Catalano returning to the Weekly Modified ranks, some might wonder just how many feature wins Catalano has at the flat half-mile asphalt oval.
The answer may astound some. He shows with 143 Spencer Speedway victories and has to be the winningest driver. Buck has the most victories in the Grand American, SST division, where he picked up win number 48 last Saturday. In the NASCAR Modifieds he show with a total of 37 feature wins, ranking him fifth on the All-Time winners list, which is headed by the great Maynard Troyer with 57 wins. In full fender action he recorded 39 Street/Super Stock feature wins between 1976 and 1985. When Spencer featured the Late Model class, he joined the ranks and recorded 19 feature victories between 1988 and 1998.
If he is going to add to that total this weekend, he’ll have to come from near the back of the pack to do so as this Friday will be the first handicapped race of the season. Last week the Weekly Modifieds were out in early season strength fielding 22 cars.
Spencer Speedway is located just fifteen minutes east of Rochester, NY, along Route 104 in the Town of Williamson. Spencer Speedway is the local “NASCAR Place to Race” for upstate New York. Points earned each week at Spencer are counted into the national NASCAR Whelen All-American Series championship.
