WORKING TOWARDS OPENING DAY

Perry, NY: It’s not just about the competition or the checkered flag…it’s also about the team work, preparation, looks, engineering and the thrill of being a part of something that makes us feel good.

Stock car racing on the short tracks thrills fans every weekend, from May through October, entertainment…live entertainment, where hundreds of drivers and crew members thrash week after week for the pride of a good finish.

Wyoming County International Speedway located in Perry, NY, opens on Sunday, May 20th. The competitors begin rolling in around 10 AM. The spectator gates open at noon for a 2:30 PM race time. Time trials for the T.Q. Midgets begin at 1:30 PM.

Preparation at the Perry facility began as the snow began to melt away. Some of the damage left behind by Mother Nature and the snow plowing for the RMR SnoX is currently being attended to. Updating in the main concession stand has also been a priority to make sure all will be in order as fans line up for sausage with peppers and onions, salt potatoes and cold drinks.

Back on the track, new teams and veterans prepare at WCIS practice sessions, to ‘shake out the bugs’. The 4-Cylinder division welcomes young teams filling the field. Some use this division as a stepping-stone into upper levels…others use it for fun! The Mini-Cup division are scale racers making you feel like you're at a superspeedway...right in your own back yard!

For fast, side by side competition...the T.Q. Midgets are sure to thrill the fans. Sponsored in part by Ed Hulme General Contracting, check out the high speed and quick action of these open wheel machines!

The Super Stocks are the last true ‘stock car’. With a look of yesterday’s Cup cars, this division is fast and competitive. New teams are sure to add to the excitement as steady growth continues into 2007.

Now let’s talk horsepower! The SST Modified Division! Open-wheels and awesome competition…so competitive, some teams have multiple teams to ensure attrition won’t keep them pitside. From across the region, SST Modifieds visit the ‘BullRing’ on their way to the overall SST Series Championship. In 2006, several WCIS modified teams knocked on the door of the series title, but were beaten out by veteran driver T.J. Potrzebowski #51. Can the BullRing teams grab the SST title in ’07? Stop out opening day to ‘meet the drivers’ on the front stretch during the intermission.

Pocono Raceway sponsors an ARCA ticket promotion at WCIS from opening day through June 3rd. Fans can receive FREE ARCA tickets with the purchase of 2 WCIS family passes. Each family pass has been reduced to only $20 each. So for $40 race fans receive $100 worth of tickets - great for a Father’s Day gift for Dad! Everyone who purchases the race package will have the chance to win NASCAR Pocono 500 tickets!

Promotions continue all season at the BullRing for your entertainment. Check out www.wyomingcountyinternationalspeedway.com for a complete listing of the WCIS schedule of events.
