SST PRO MODIFIEDS TO LEAD 2007 HOLLAND WEEKLY NASCAR SLATE, LATE MODELS FEATURED ON A SPECIALS SCHEDULE
Holland, NY: The 2007 racing schedule at Holland Speedway is taking shape, as the Western New York oval is set to open for the 48th consecutive season on Saturday, May 26th.
The Speedway will continue its long association with NASCAR and will be part of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series. The Pro Modifieds will be the designated lead NASCAR division at Holland in 2007, with drivers in that division eligible for the New York State and overall National titles. In addition, with the recent announcement that Holland's Pro Modifieds will now be a full partner in the SST Sportsman Series, drivers in that division will have the opportunity to share in both SST Series and NASCAR Whelen All-American Series point funds. Although dates have not yet been set, Holland will host two SST Series tour events.
The Late Models, which have been a fixture at Holland since the oval's 1960 opening, will continue to be a part of the schedule in 2007 in a special event format. Three NASCAR Late Model specials are already set, with the possibility of additional appearances in the works. The full-bodied racers will be featured in a 100-lap MAARA Series race on Saturday, June 30th, will return for a 50 lap event on Saturday, July 28th, and will be back for the highlight race of the season, the Budweiser 100, another MAARA Series event, on Saturday, September 1st.
In addition to the Pro Modifieds, the weekly program will include the super-stock-style Chargers, Figure 8 Cars, and Pro Fours. The Pro Fours will become a NASCAR division in 2007, joining the other weekly divisions and the Late Models under the sanction. The INEX Legends, 4-cylinder Hornets, and ladies-only Queen Bees will all return as semi-regular divisions at the Speedway. The Cup Lites Series and the Casey's TQ Midget Series will also be back for special appearances throughout the year.
The Speedway has scheduled a "Night of Thrills" for Saturday, July 7th. Plus, the popular Crash-A-Rama cards will return, with a pair of metal mangling events set for Saturday, June 9th and Saturday, September 8th.
The final schedule should be released by the end of January. For further information, please contact the Speedway office at (716)-537-2272.
