LAP SPONSORSHIPS AVAILABLE FOR 56TH ANNUAL SUNOCO RACE OF CHAMPIONS MODIFIED 200: RACE SET FOR SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 16TH AT OSWEGO SPEEDWAY

 
BINGHAMTON, NY: Lap sponsorships are once again available for the 56th annual Sunoco Race of Champions Modified 200. The race is set to take place on Saturday, September 16th at Oswego Speedway.

Laps are being sold for a minimum of $50 for each of the 200 laps in the event. Race of Champions Hall of Fame Member Marilyn Toal is selling laps again this summer for the 56th edition of the R.o.C. She can be contacted directly at 585-663-0004 or by seeing her any Friday night at the Spencer Speedway.

Last year through the efforts of Marilyn and Don Toal they raised over $18,000 in bonus lap money. All of the money collected goes directly to the drivers that lead the laps specified. Four drivers last year cashed in on the lap money program by leading an extended number of laps. Tommy Cloce earned just under $7,000 with Bobby Holmes netting just over $5,000, Chuck Hossfeld earning $4,850 and Earl Paules scoring an extra $1,600.

Vic Hooker, a sponsor of several Race of Champions Modified Tour teams, has purchased a number of bonus laps as extra incentives for the teams competing in the 200 lapper. He has sponsored twenty bonus laps for the event with the total dollar amount nearing the $10,000 marker. The race teams are hoping to see this year's lap total approach the $25,000 mark.

Race of Champions Tour Director Andrew Harpell stated, “As always we are grateful for the efforts of Marilyn and Don Toal as they volunteer their time to make this the greatest Modified event in the United States.” He added, “Mr. Hooker has made a generous pledge in lap contributions and has indicated he hopes all past contributors will stay on board.”

The bonus laps will be listed in a separate column of the lap sponsorship as in years past. Each lap sponsor will see their name appear next to their lap in the official color racing magazine. Lap sponsors will also be read over the public address system at the event.

Once again Andrew Harpell has posted $1,000 to the leader of lap 68 as a tribute to the late Alex Friesen. As always, other contributors are welcome to be added to that specific lap or any other.
