WNY RACING SWAP MEET ON TAP
DUNKIRK, NY: The 3rd annual Western New York Racing
Swap
Meet is scheduled for Saturday, November 6th, 2004, at the Chautauqua
County
Fairgrounds in Dunkirk, NY. As always, the show will go on rain, snow,
or
shine, in the heated indoor Ag and Expo center.
The WNY Racing Swap Meet is the perfect opportunity for area racers to
buy,
sell, or trade racing parts, equipment, tools, haulers, trailers, and
anything else racing! Cars and equipment that doesn’t sell on the day
of
the swap meet will typically sell at a later date, as interested buyers
follow up with vendors.
“We decided two years ago to have the swap meet in Dunkirk, NY because
of
its proximity to so many great local tracks, and drag strips, in New
York,
Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Canada. In preparation for this year’s swap
meet,
we have received calls from as far as Muskegon, Michigan, and beyond
Syracuse, New York,” stated swap meet coordinator and regional racer
Bill
Catania. Dunkirk, New York is conveniently located off I-90, and is
only 40
minutes from Buffalo, 2 hours from Syracuse, 90 minutes from Rochester,
40
minutes from Erie, PA, 2.5 hours from Pittsburgh, and 2 hours from
Cleveland, OH.
Since its first year in 2002, the show has gained momentum within the
racing community, doubling its vendors in 2003, and attracting a wide
variety of racers and local enthusiasts. Indoor heated vendor spaces
can be
purchased for $35, which includes passes for two, a 10’ x 10’ space
with a
covered table, and free lunch at the swap meet concession stand. Food
will
be served all day, beginning at 6AM, until close! Outdoor spaces sell
for
$30, where vendors sell their parts and equipment, or may bring a
complete
racecar, hauler or trailer. Lunch is also provided for outdoor
vendors.
“We will continue to develop the WNY Racing Swap Meet for many years to
come. The response has been great, and we know that only time and
persistence will make this the premier regional event that we know it
can
be. We are currently planning a March event here in Dunkirk for 2005,
and
are also going to announce, in the coming weeks, a winter event date in
Erie, Pennsylvania. The Erie event will be both a racing swap meet,
and a
parts flea market. As an Erie resident, I know how many motor heads we
have
in the greater Erie area alone, say nothing about northeast Ohio.
There is
great potential if we can get the word out,” stated Catania.
On Saturday, gates open at 6 AM for vendor move in, with the swap meet
beginning at 9 AM. The Chautauqua County Fairgrounds is located off
I-90 in
Dunkirk, NY, Exit 59. Follow the signs to the fairgrounds. Indoor
spaces
are still available, and are on a first come basis. Vendors may
register on
Saturday morning, or can reserve their space by calling 814-897-1869.
