NELLIST, BREW WRAP UP HOLLAND TITLES WITH VICTORIES

Holland, NY: Holland Speedway brought down the curtain on the 2004 racing season with double point season championship events for the strictly stock divisions of racing on Saturday evening. Dan Nellist of West Falls, NY raced to the win in the Stinger division, earning his second consecutive divisional title in the process. Dan Brew of Cheektowaga likewise scored the Hornets season title with a win in that 4-cylinder division's finale.

In other action, Rick Roth of West Valley, NY notched his first win of the season in the 8-cylinder Challenger division, while Mary Place of West Valley motored to her first win of the season in the Queen Bee main.

Dan Nellist was able to guide his R&R Tuttle Farms Honda to victory in the main event for the 4-cylinder high performance stock Stingers for his third win of the year, in an event marked by some rugged moments. Rich Perkins followed Nellist at the line, with Dan's brother Mike Nellist placing third.

In the feature race for the 4-cylinder Hornets, Dan Brew raced his Auto Electric Toyota to win number two of the year over a large field of the strictly stock racers. Bill Mauerman finished second, with Bruce Taylor grabbing third.

Persistance paid off for Rick Roth, as after a rough early start to the season, the leader of the "Blue Shirt Crew" had it all come together for a victory on the last night of the season in the Challenger feature race in his Concord Mechanical mount. Roth was able to take advantage of Jim Mallaber's misfortune, taking the top slot after Mallaber shredded a tire while leading late in the race. Jerry Carpenter scored a second place finish, with Matt Welshans taking third. Welshans' third place finish was enough for him to earn his first career track title.

Likewise, Mary Place finally shook the bad luck monkey off her back, taking advantage of some early race shuffling at the front of the field to race on for her first Queen Bee feature win of the year in her West Valley Service Center Honda. Laura Yandricha took second, with Lisa Loffredo in third. Despite an early race spin, Ruth Booth was able to hold on to the divisional points lead to be crowned the season champion.

Next on the Holland Speedway schedule will be the annual awards banquets. The Banquet for the Challengers, Stingers, Hornets, Queen Bees, and Figure 8 Cars will be held on Friday evening, October 22nd at the Holland Willows in Holland. The Awards dinner for the NASCAR Sunoco Late Model Pro Stocks, Pro Modifieds, Chargers, and Pro Fours is set for Friday evening, November 12th at the Buffalo Raceway and Gaming Facility in Hamburg, NY.
