TROYER ASPHALT CHASSIS GIVEAWAY AT LANCASTER'S U.S. OPEN
Lancaster Raceway Park and Troyer Race Cars and Parts recently
announced
their continued partnership for Lancaster's U.S. OPEN. Once again this
year,
a lucky driver competing in the September 24-26th event will win a
brand
new 2005 Modified Troyer Chassis. The program has expanded this year
to
include the Sportsman portion of the event as well. "We are committed
to
the success of open wheel racing and feel this can offer a boost to the
competitors while at the same time offering support to Lancaster. We
have a
special connection to Lancaster because of my father," stated Billy
Colton,
president of Troyer Inc. Bill Colton Sr. was a strong supporter of
Modified
racing at Lancaster for many years, instituting the Lucky 15 Lap
program,
which is a strong part of Lancaster's Open, as well as initiating the
Thermal Foam Soft Walls for racetracks across the country. "It's a
special
promotion we do with Lancaster each year," continued Billy, "combined
with
the strong purse and over $10,000 in lap money on the line, the chassis
giveaway makes this one of the most attractive races for asphalt short
tracks," he concluded. Lancaster management is also aware that when you
take
care of the drivers, the cars will come and that in turn attracts the
fans.
Last year's Open was one of the highest attended shows in recent
history at
the Buffalo based 1/2 mile oval. "We attribute the crowd to the
quality
of racers that have been supporting Lancaster on a weekly basis and
those
who come in for the prestige of the Open," stated General Manager Fred
Somers. "Also, you can't beat the price at the gate for the quality
and
amount of racing you see. We have kept the weekend price at $30.00
which is
great!" he continued.
The weekend kicks off with practice on Friday September 24 from 6-10
pm,
followed by a Racer Party and Fan Appreciation Bonfire. Saturday will
see
qualifying for all divisions with a 75 Lap SST Sportsman Points event
and 75
Lap Cup Lite Main event. Sunday will be non-qualifiers plus TQ Midgets
25
laps, Street Stocks 30, Super Stock 30, Late Model 75 and RoC Modified
Championship 125.
The Troyer Chassis giveaway will be open to all drivers in the
Sportsman and
Modified ranks who campaigned a Troyer Chassis for 50% or more of the
2004
season. The top 5 Troyer drivers to cross the finish line in the
Modified
125 and the top 3 Troyer drivers in the Sportsman feature will have a
chance
to be drawn to take home a brand new Troyer car. The drawing will be
held on
the frontstretch following the Modified main event on Sunday.
