His nickname was the "Flyin' Florist". Roger was inducted into the FOAR Score Hall of Fame in 1992 and the Race of Champions Hall of Fame in 1985. His brother Gordy and cousin Merv were the other racing Treichlers. Roger and Merv shared driving duties of one Hobby (Late Model) car in 1963. Gordy ran an identically painted coach like Roger's ride when he moved up to the Modified class in a #47. He started his career on the Niagara Dragstrip in 1960 with a #174 and went oval track racing in 1963; his first oval car was a #17. Roger ran the first Stafford (CT) Spring Sizzler in 1972 driving the Bugs Stevens backup Modified #10 (renumbered from #15). He wanted to win an Oswego feature very much in his career, but he didn't. He finished 2nd to Gary Reichert #18 in the '73 Modified 200 and had another 2nd to Greg Sacks #5 at the '82 Modified 200. |
